The Ramblers competitive program requires a commitment for 6 months between September to June depending on age groups. The season consists of two weekly local practices, and weekend games or tournaments that usually require out of town travel. Competitive teams focus on individual and team skill development at a higher level.

Commitment Level

Ramblers competitive teams demand a big time commitment from players and families. We understand that family, academics, faith and sometimes school activities will take top priority. We request that conflicts be communicated to the coaches well in advance so that practices, games, tournaments, etc., can be planned accordingly. While we encourage our athletes to participate in other activities, our competitive program is a high level program and parents and athletes must understand the commitment they are making when they join.

Tryouts

Our program holds open tryouts in September. Players must tryout to make the team roster. Anyone is welcome and there is no fee to tryout. Tryouts for each age group are run by the coaches of that team along with guest coaches within the club. The players’ skills, effort, behavior, and attitude are important factors that coaches consider in making their selections for the team. There are two tryouts of 1.5 hours each with a 3rd tryout added if needed by coach. The tryout schedule for both girls and boys is posted on the website in late August.

Costs

If your son/daughter is selected to play on a competitive team, the cost will range between $800 – $1200, depending on the number of tournaments and activities that his/her team enters. The player registration offsets the costs of: Ontario Basketball registration fees, Ontario Cup registration, tournament fees, insurance, gym facilities, etc. The cost of playing competitive is significantly higher than house league.

Juel and Juel Prep fee’s will range between $1000 – $1500 depending on players, gym costs, etc.

Parents have the opportunity to apply for funding with the Trevor Barton Foundation, Jump Start and Kids Sport Ontario to assist with player fees. Note that there are no guarantees of funding. Please check under competitive link for more information.
