Funding Options

Their Opportunity’s longest standing program pillar is our subsidies program. It’s built to help remove the financial barrier to ensure children from all economic backgrounds have an equal opportunity to participate in grassroots sports and recreation.

No kid should be left on the sidelines but in Canada 1 in 3 families cannot afford to enroll their kids in organized sports. That’s almost 750,000 kids every year who want to play, but just can’t. Jumpstart aims to change that. Across Canada, Jumpstart has over 300 Chapters, which are made up of volunteers from across the Canadian Tire enterprise and local community groups, such as local Parks and Recreation Departments, Boys and Girls Clubs and the YMCA/YWCA, among others. Money raised within each Chapter stays within the community and goes directly to help kids participate in sport, dance or other organized physical activities. Jumpstart funding helps families that need a financial hand with registration, equipment and/or transportation costs.

KidSport is a national not-for-profit organization that provides financial assistance for registration fees and equipment to kids aged 18 and under. Through a confidential application process we provide grants so they can play a season of sport. Nationally, KidSport is comprised of a network of 11 provincial/territorial KidSport chapters and 178 community KidSport chapters. Since its creation in 1993, over 530,000 kids across the country have been given the chance to play sport through KidSport grants and sport introduction programming.

Our goal for our community is to have as many youth as possible playing the sport they love! For some families, this is difficult and, in an effort, to reduce additional financial costs to players and their families we are looking to our awesome community to help support local youth and their love of the game.  With your financial contribution, big or small, you will be supporting over 300 local athletes and their families.
